Rainy Day Activities in Daytona Beach

On average, there are 230 days of sunshine per year in the Daytona Beach area. Some days, there will be a rainy afternoon in the destination, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have some fun.

From museums and arcades to escape rooms and ice skating, there are plenty of rainy day activities in Daytona Beach. Here’s a look at some things to do on a rainy day in Daytona Beach. 

Visit one of the many museums in the Daytona Beach area.

The nationally accredited, Smithsonian-affiliated Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) is Central Florida’s primary art, science and history museum. The Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, which is also located on the MOAS campus, is home to the largest collection of Florida-based art in the world. 

The Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens was created in 1946 as a living monument to creative freedom and equality of all persons, and to commemorate the service of World War II veterans. Marvel at the changing gallery exhibits featuring the works of prominent Florida and international artists.

You can also explore the Daytona Beach area’s rich and colorful history at the Halifax Historical Museum located in the 1910 Merchants Bank Building on historic Beach Street. Or visit the Veterans Museum and Educational Center to view thousands of war artifacts that pay tribute to the commitment, dedication, service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces to defend our freedom and liberty.

The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, located at Daytona International Speedway and part of the daily track tour, has a museum-only ticket available at the ticket window. Experience the spectacular displays honoring all forms of motorsports: stock cars, sports cars, open wheel, motorcycles, drag racing, land speed records, powerboating and aviation.

Explore the Daytona Aquarium and Rainforest Adventure, which provides an interactive educational experience featuring animals from both land and sea. The 55,000-square foot facility is located on the northwest corner of International Speedway Blvd. and Nova Road in the heart of Daytona Beach. Visitors are able to explore close to 40 separate exhibits, including a 100,000-gallon shark exhibit and two touch pools, including a 12,000-gallon stingray touch pool. There are also habitats for alligators, frogs, and lizards.

Discover and learn about the area’s rich marine life – the inhabitants and ecosystems that make this area unique – at the Marine Science Center. Through innovative learning experiences, visitors can view seabirds and sea turtles in rehabilitation, get hands-on in a teaching lab, and explore exhibit galleries and a nature trail that illustrate the story of marine life in Volusia County. Feed stingrays, enjoy the “Raptors Live” programs and learn about wildlife.

Arcades and Food

Enjoy loads of indoor fun at one of the many restaurant/arcade destinations that offer the hottest arcade games and a full dining experience. Dave and Busters is located at the Tomoka Town Center while GameTime, which has 12 lanes of bowling in addition to over 100 interactive arcade games, is part of ONE DAYTONA.

Daytona Lagoon’s Fun Park includes a mega arcade, laser tag, a sky maze ropes course and a rock wall while Back Alley Lanes VR-Cade has a Virtual Reality Arena in addition to bowling lanes and an arcade.

Escape Rooms

Get lost in the fun at one of the many escape rooms located in the Daytona Beach area. Escape rooms are a fun indoor entertainment opportunity for the whole group. Be challenged with a themed experience with puzzles and tasks that must be completed in order to escape.
