DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) will launch the inaugural Daytona Beach Fishing Rodeo this November, inviting anglers to book trips with participating charter captains and compete for the longest Redfish, Snook and Sheepshead.
The Fishing Rodeo will take place from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30. There is no additional fee to participate after booking a trip at the charter captain’s regular rate.
The program is designed to highlight the Daytona Beach area’s fishing opportunities available for residents and visitors while helping generate business for local charter captains during a traditionally slower season.
“The Daytona Beach Fishing Rodeo gives visitors another reason to get out on the water while supporting the local charter captains who help make fishing such an important part of our destination,” said Lori Campbell Baker, Executive Director for the CVB. “It also provides a fun way for anglers of different ages and experience levels to enjoy some friendly competition during their visit.”
The Fishing Rodeo will include Adult and Junior divisions and anglers will compete for the longest verified catch in each eligible species category.
To participate, anglers must book a trip directly with a participating charter captain. During the trip, the captain will measure and photograph eligible catches according to the official program guidelines and submit them through the Fishing Rodeo’s online form.
All catches must comply with current Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulations and the official Daytona Beach Fishing Rodeo rules.
The angler with the longest verified fish in each Adult Division species category will receive a Daytona Beach fishing getaway. Each travel prize will include a three-night stay at a participating local hotel and a charter fishing experience for a return visit. The angler with the longest verified fish in each Junior Division species category will receive a new rod & reel, a free fishing trip (accompanied by a paying adult), as well as a tackle package provided by Southern States Fishin’ & Huntin’ Magazine.
A list of participating charter captains, official rules and additional program information will be available at https://www.daytonabeach.com/fishing-rodeo/.
